Butler University

We are heading to Indiana tomorrow....2nd visit to Butler University...she may just sign her letter of intent when we meet with the coach on Monday.  Her beloved ND was a no yesterday...I dreaded that day, but after some tears, and no anger, she quickly said "I think it's Butler...it's where I should be, it's where they want me and it's where I can swim."

Emma talks a lot about "being in the water."  She has yet to meet a swimmer like herself...it's not really about the competition, although she likes that, it's about swimming.  She LOVES being in the water. 

We're meeting with someone to talk about health sciences/pre med.  She's so excited to "be on her way."  Final decision next week, but I think she's going to be a Butler Bulldog!  Heidi

met Callista Gingrich last night...

Met her last night...a very charming, well spoken, personable, nice lady.  Small world...my friend, Kris, who used to be CoS for Congressman Steve Gunderson, hired Callista years ago.  She actually introduced Newt to Callista.  Our Grandpa Claude worked for Steve's dad for years at Gunderson Chevrolet in Osseo.  Matt Gunderson, Steve's brother, is traveling with Callista as an advisor on some of these stops.  Our Aunt Mary Lynn knows Callista and Mom/we know the whole Gunderson family...it's a small, small world.  My friend Kris didn't know any of this. 

Matt spoke so highly of Grandpa Claude...it was really nice to hear.

I have all four of them "watching" over me while I work, that is their pictures. I get very sentimental too sometimes. A lot of great memories, laughs and hugs.

you painted??!  I am not a gray (grey???) person, HOWEVER, I love the way it looks in your photo!  Almost a smokey blue?!  Love the orange accents!  I wonder how many coats of paint that room has had since you moved in...do you have any idea?  For all of you out there, when I need to relieve stress, I garden or cook, Krista PAINTS...like a madwoman...damn the prep work or tape, she is an artist and just goes for it and it always looks beautiful!

I've got turquoise on the brain.  I love my office color (need to post a pic of my office...), but I've been mulling a living room change...and turquoise keeps popping into my head...tired of the green.  Unlike you, I need to mull for months and then have Chris do all the work.  You just go for it!!!  Just like Grandma Bea, who had the same painting bug!!!

a new!

I wanted to show you my latest project. I have had this stool for probably close to 20 years. It has been in the basement for about 4. It makes for nice extra seating. For $10 and new staples for the stapler it is new again! Gray and orange are my latest colors! You can even see a hint of my wall color behind it... love k :)

Waiting for her top 3...

This 2nd semester of her senior year is on fast forward, but it's all good.  She's hanging out in the sun on the deck right now with friends and I'm in my office...all I hear is laughing.  Listened to Emma and Meagan talk during dinner the other night and all I could think of was "they're ready, they've grown up."

She's happy...quietly seeing the Italian exchange student...he's going back to Italia in May - perfecto!

So much to do, buy and plan....prom shoes, dresses, graduation party, graduation gift and
PICK A SCHOOL.

It will all fall into place.

I have to say I love Pinterest too...not because I have sat down to figure it out/become addicted yet, BUT because it's giving you WONDERFUL ideas for Emma's graduation party - thankyouverymuch!!!  When I have a lull, I will figure it out...from what I can tell, it's just BEAUTY.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my dear Brother in Law, Steve!!!!  Good guy, great husband and dad.  Happy he is in our family!  Looking forward to some fun as a foursome when we're all done paying endless tuitions!  He'll be getting a Starbuck's gift card to contribute to our shared addiction.

Can't wait for your visit in May!!! 

ALSO, IT'S 79 DEEEEEGREEES IN MADISON TODAY....70's - 80's in the foreseeable future.  Then, watch out, whammo a snowstorm in April...until then, everyone is loving it!!!

I am so HUNGRY

Seriously am counting the days until The Hunger Games...devoured the first two books and finishing up the third.  Peter and Chris are now reading the first one and we have tickets for the four of us for next Saturday...Em, of course, is going to the midnight showing on Thursday with her girlfriends.
EXCELLENT books...strong women characters (and men!).  Read it Sissy so we can dish!

yes to spring!

We've been fooled before, but I believe it's here...gonna be 60's-70's all week!  I am sure we'll get another cold snap at some point, but it won't last!

Yesterday, we pulled the deck chairs out of the porch and Emma sunned herself while I worked in the garden...raked off the layer of leaves...tons of green little bits of life poking their heads up!!!  Now with today's rain and then sun the rest of the week, SPRING HAS SPRUNG!  Birds and bees and other bugs are everywhere...another good sign of winter's end.  Although I will take this winter any year!

It's George's b-day today.  He's 10 (70).  We're celebrating with a hamburger cake for him...we put up a sign and will have party hats too.  I worry that he might not have another b-day.  He has really slowed down...I don't need to say it again (everyone seems to know how crazy I am about this sweet dog), but I LOVE GEORGE! 

George is my pal, my buddy and companion when the rest of the family is in different directions.  We saw him the week after he was born...teeny tiny.  When we brought him home, he was smaller than his head is now!

bring on spring

This weekend is suppose to be 60 degrees! Very excited for spring. We have had such a great winter that we shouldn't be so anxious, but I always am!! I hope to really work on the yard this year. We have so many problems...creeping charlie, crab grass, mole hills. 


We have a lot to look forward to....Emma's graduation is on the top! Can't wait!

Saw this bag in Coastal Living...it's one of those rare items that screams to me and I respond with "I must get that."  These are my absolute favorite colors period.  Go to www.dashandalbert.com .  They've got great indoor/outdoor rugs as well...meaning that they'll look great in the kitchen and mudroom BUT I can literally hose them down outside and not pay to have them cleaned.  Actually, Mother Dearest - if you're reading - this is a great b-day hint...a gift card to this website ;)...I'll never be too old to give Mom hints!  xoxo, Heidi
