unsettled...

...that is how I am feeling.  Mom in the hospital and not knowing what is wrong is very unsettling. Chris in Raleigh, NC (hopefully getting on a plane today) with Hurricane Irene barreling toward the coast is unsettling.  Emma's chronic shoulder pain is unsettling.  Interviewing has my undies in a bundle as well!

Thinking good thoughts and hoping for the best!  Heidi

Here she goes...

I keep saying her first last day, but today was her "last first day of school"...while living with us anyway.  We had breakfast at the Coppertop (local diner) like we always do for the first and last days of school, b-days, Mother's Day, Father's Day...

Took the first day of school pictures...almost broke me then, but I knew I had to be stronger...for Peter.  I think the thing I am most proud of in my life is how much Emma and Peter love eachother.  They never miss a chance to say it to eachother and consider eachother their best friend.  Peter just kept looking at her at breakfast.  Chris is very practical, but I'm certain he will be the one who will be teary all the way home from wherever we deposit her one year from now (I'll be low on fluids).

Not only is Emma a senior, but my Peter is a sophomore today...so tall, so handsome, so polite and ours for another three years.  Thank God.

This year will be a great adventure...so much to look forward to, but not only do we love her endlessly, we like her so much.  She loves to say to us "I like your presence."  We feel the same way.

love, Heidi

some of the Navy Seals that died for our country this month....

Makes me think about our boys going into the military, but just like these guys, I don't think we can stop them.

Heidi

I must get this...

Yellow Labrador 1/2 Pint Mug
It's from Emma Bridgewater...love her pottery!!!  Heidi

yes I do love it!

It's fun to display your bits and pieces in a new way!  Love the doors off and all of your pretty pretties out in full view!

After Christmas every year, I clear everything off the mantle, tables, etc in the living room and dining room.  I let it be that way for a week or two until something inspires me to start anew.  A lot of the same stuff ends up where it was, but not always and my mantle is never the same.

Emma and Peter start back to school on Wednesday!!!!  Only 4 days left of summer vacation....Peter is in FL until Monday so we four (George included) are heading up to GB to lounge by Jeremy and Nana's pool for a couple of days.  Peter will be a sophomore and it's Emma's last "first day" of school...;0

My friend Sally and I feel the same about our seniors and sophomores....anxious about this senior stuff and so grateful we've got our babies!!!  I'm trying to enjoy it all.  Chaperoned the 22 swim team girls at the McCoshen's cottage yesterday...it was a great day!  But, some of the best conversations were in the car with Emma and three of her teammates there and back....really interesting girls.  I count my blessings every day.

love...love!

Thank you sissy for my beautiful creamer and sugar (as seen on your previous post)! Love them! Still love Fiesta - that blue is beautiful!
I did get a project done while the kids were away. Took the doors off my old pantry, and painted the inside. Put all of my favorite dishes and glassware in it- look how cute they are front and center!! love, k

great views

We took a tour of the Foshay Tower, as seen in reflection behind Lily and Evan. Built in 1896, it was the tallest building in Mpls. The building is now the W hotel, very chic and cool. Only 30 floors high, but you could see everything!
We went up to the top floor where they have a museum and observatory deck. It was really cool, and the kids loved it. I am going to try to cram in a few more fun things for us to do before summer ends! Better get on it!
