Day 4

Yogurt and Bananas- what!!!! Day 4 was the toughest for me! I did not feel well this morning, and thought how am I going to battle this one! I had one yogurt, and one banana. It did nothing. I was starving. I had another banana and another yogurt. Ok, better. We could eat up to 8 bananas and 8 containers of yogurt or milk. By the end of the day I had 6 of each. It is mind over matter today. It took a lot out of me. But, I went and worked out and felt good. Suzanne is doing this satan diet too. She is one day ahead of me, and has lost 7 lbs so far!!

I can't wait until tomorrow!!!! I went to Target and bought roasted chicken, deli turkey and 4 large tomatoes!! I might have to get up early to eat!!!! love, k

Day 3

Day 3 was vegetables and fruit, except no potatoes. I ate my leftover roasted veggies from Day 2 and my leftover fruit from Day 1. Overall it was a pretty good day. A good combination. No big cravings or hunger. I felt lighter today. Dreading tomorrow!!! love, k

Day 2

Veggies!!! After Day 1 of all fruits, I welcomed veggie day with open arms...and mouth!! I had these 2 pans full of squash, potatoes, asparagus, zuccini, tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, garlic and carrots. I could not wait! Day one was hard, starving all day. Day 2 was really good. No big cravings, happy with my veggies. love, k

Act 6

I was downtown last week for some meetings and took a bag of change with me for the meters.  I swear the city of Madison is discouraging us to go downtown to shop or dine...they get you every time your meter expires....$20 a pop.  Anyway, I plugged my meter and then plugged everyone else's around me....about 4 cars.  Had to come back an hour later to plug mine again and did everyone else's again.  Only had 3 notes with me, but hopefully some people will spread some cheer of their own.

xoxo, H.

Your day 2?

So, how was veggie day, Sissy?  I am still on hold...stomach is not cooperating!  BUT, I am down 2 lbs from yesterday!

We had a RAGING thunderstorm here last night - thunder, lightning and tons of rain!  We have quite the "pond" at the end of the driveway today.  High of almost 60 today THEN....dropping temps and 5 inches of snow overnight...crazy!

Going to focus on my office today...paperwork, etc.

update...

I am freezing because I believe I have a bit of a bug....so, my cleanse is on hold for the moment.  I seem to be doing that on my own. :o And a pound of fruit this a.m. is causing more problems.

Stay strong if you can Sissy!

xoxo, Heidi

not sure about this...

I'm having commitment issues right now....not sure if I like this plan!!!!  The day of bananas and milk is what I am dreading...not sure I can do that day...seriously.

Thinking we just need to get back to NO BAD CARBS/no carbs...that is how I feel best and lose weight.  Tons of veggies and protein...with a sprinkle of brown rice every now and then.  I like my eggs in the morning!

I am freezing today and eating only fruit is not helping.

Talk to me!  H.

Heidi's day 1

First of all, I am just grateful to be alive today after driving home from Indy yesterday/last night.  The freezing rain was not THAT bad, but seeing cars off the road and salt trucks everywhere had us stressed for the 6 + hour drive home.

So, I almost didn't start the cleanse today (because I am tired and need to go grocery shopping and I have book group tonight which means great dessert....), but after a weekend of eating out, it actually sounds great.  I need to go get George from the kennel and pick up my fruit for the day.  I just ate 3 oranges because that is all I have!

Can't wait for veggies and protein already.  Banana day...ick...that is going to be rough, but this was my idea.  I won't bug out Sissy!

Talk soon!

xoxoxo, H.

p.s. it was SO WONDERFUL to see Emma and hang out with her friends...she is so happy and is surrounded with such great people!  She swam well at her meet and looks awesome!

day 1

Fruit Day-

I dreaded fruit day waking up this morning. All I wanted was my english muffin and peanut butter and crawl back into bed. A night of dancing and having fun left me with no energy. The thought of fruit all day was scary.

But, I must say I needed it. I can tell I have gone back to my old ways when all I think about during the day is what I am going to eat. My old habits are bad habits. Eat to fuel. That is what I have forgotten. Eating is fun and there are definitely foods that help with bad days or just to enjoy food, but it is just our fuel.

Ok, so I started with a bowl, large bowl, of cantelope, blueberries, strawberries and oranges. I also had a diet coke, that is actually forbidden. Sorry folks, that is going too far. If I lose less, I can deal. I need my diet coke. Then later I had blueberries. At 3:00 I needed something warm. Warm fruit?? This is what I came up with.

I put a little orange juice, blueberries and apple in a saucepan with cinnamon and let it cook for 10 minutes. I am not a fan of apple pie, but for some reason this was the best thing ever! At least on fruit day :)

I went to Lunds to prepare myself for tomorrow, vegetable day. I needed EVOO for roasting my pan of veggies. I also picked up a pineapple for tonight. This is what was left of it after Lily and I attacked it!!

Overall, fruit day was not too bad. I obsessed about it most of the day. What I was craving and missing. How crazy I thought, it's one day. I am going to bed early, thought this would help! Looking forward to the potato tomorrow!!! YUM!!! Good luck tomorrow sissy on your first day. Be strong. It's only 7 days. :)
love, k

7 days

For the next seven days, for me, and for you sissy starting tomorrow, we are in the cleanse mode. I will post my first day results and wait for your first day results. I think its a great idea! Thanks for finding it pinner! I am already hungry thinking about today- just fruit.....I am drinking my diet coke and thinking about what fruit will be eaten first. I went to target yesterday and stocked up on fruit and veggies for the first 3 days.

I think it will be hard...but I defiantly need it. Get out all the toxins and bad carbs! Put on your big girl panties, we are about to get cleansed!!!
love, k

here we go sissy....

I personally love....

I am not a coffee fan...although I love the smell....yum! My diet coke is the first thing I think about in the morning. It's grown to be not just for the caffeine, but the taste as well. Love, love, love my diet coke in the morning! Always a can. The can is the best! I have one in the morning and one with dinner. Not too much....just enough....

I personally love...

my first cup of coffee in the morning.  I LOVE IT beyond words.  Mainly with just milk and sometimes as a latte.  Hazelnut (a light roast, but I like it strong) is my favorite....not Starbucks (like drinking tar, although I am going to try their blonde roast) and not raspberry chocolate or anything of the sort.  I seriously LOVE my coffee.  A day without coffee would be like us going out of the house without mascara!  xoxo, H.

loser

with a capital L!! So many people looked up to him, kids made him their hero. It is really, really sad. Sad that a grown man wants that much attention for riding a bike, and doing it with drugs. Real nice Lance.

omission

Peter's coach is an ass...he didn't deserve omission. It will make you stronger...it will make them a man...bull...that is wrong. I like do your style though!

--breakfast in bed for the princess, sometimes its whatever works....

you are better than me

Well sissy you are a better person than me. I have not done any acts yet. I may have by accident or just by chance, but did not willingly set out for it. Yesterday a crippled woman could not get the target cart unattached from the other ones. I stopped and pulled hers out. Lily looked at me and said...see Mom, is that so hard. I am not sure what she meant by that, but it caught her attention.

I think it's all about the time. We are always rushing when we are out. Rushing here, rushing there, gotta get home..... Lily and I had the best time at Ikea on Sunday. Nothing to do on such a cold day, so Ikea we went. We always eat first, then bathroom break, and away we go. We spend over an hour walking the 2 giant floors. We test out the office chairs, spinning and lots of giggles. We try out couches, we will never buy. She lays on the beds, and begs for a bunk bed. Love spending time with her like that. We end up the day at Ikea by eating a yogurt cone. We usually walk away with a few purchases totaling $20. Such a deal!

But getting back to the acts. I guess you can say I do them when I am out and about. I will try to keep track!
love, k

another act (5)

...it was of omission...I wanted to say something to Peter's coach because he is plain wrong about something, but I chose not to basically because he is someone who is always right even when he is proven wrong.  He's a lot like the boys he coaches when it comes to maturity (some are more mature than he is).  Not sure if this is an act of kindness to him or to myself but I just decided to spare the headache.

I still have my envelopes and notes in my purse...just haven't had the opportunity arise lately.  Will work on it this week.

I'm still cracking up about Lily's breakfast in bed!  Love that girl!  Let's work on that girls weekend for the summer....good bonding time!

completed Act 4

I said 26 Hail Marys today for the families.  H.

Act 4...

I haven't done it yet...I'm not stressing about completing these in 26 days...I am trying to make it more meaningful than just adding it to my "to do" list.  Although "random act" has been on my list every day.  I just haven't been inspired in the last few days.  Hopefully today will change that!

Lance Armstrong is a certified ASSHOLE...there's no way around that.  Since we are humans, we might have found some sympathy for lying, but the fact that he literally destroyed others' lives and livlihoods, it is unforgiveable.  He needs to go away, lead a simple, quiet life, beg for his friends and family's forgiveness and SHUT UP.  There's nothing left to say.

Manti is a different and odd story...waiting to hear the story from his lips.  He clearly lied at some point.  Thank God he didn't win the Heisman!

What is it with politicians, athletes, celebrities....so MESSED up!??!  Hard to believe anyone anymore.  It's a symptom of who we "idolize" in our country and it's messed up.

Anyway, happy FRIDAY!  We are off to an invitational in Platteville for Peter tomorrow, dinner plans with the Chapados to celebrate Chris' birthday and staying WARM...frigid air moving in for Sunday/Monday...we might hole up and have a moviethon!

xoxo, H.

for Emma

Act of Kindness #3 was for Emma yesterday...she's been going through a challenge, and although it sounds petty to most, it has tested her strength this past week.  She decided not to go through Rush even though she REALLY wanted to.  It was a decision about priorities and hers are school and swimming.

She needs a new competition suit.  Butler is a Nike sponsored school and their top competition suits are not good (in most swimmers' opinions...I have no idea!).  So we ordered her favorite competitive suit yesterday.  We also ordered a dozen Insomnia cookies and had them delivered to her last night.

We woke up this a.m. to a message from her..."thank you - it made my day."

xoxo, H.

Acts 1 and 2

Yesterday for Act 1,  I put $5 in an envelope with a note saying:

This is a simple act of kindness: I am partaking in 26 Acts of Kindness to remember - in a wonderful way - the 26th staff and children that were killed on December 14, 2012 in Connecticut.  Feel free to do the same!

It wasn't really "random."  I stuck it on one of Peter's teammate's car.  He's not a bad kid, but has made some really stupid choices.

Today for Act 2, I've put the same note in a container with chocolate chip cookies.  I'm going to take George on a walk and I am going to randomly pick a house and leave the cookies.

Are you joining me in this tiny way to make someone smile??

xoxo, H.

Great idea sissy! I am compiling my list! Appreciate every day....love, k

26 acts of kindness...

of the acts of kindness
I've been a little grumpy lately...time to change that!  Whenever I've been sad about something, I try to remember the 26 families that lost someone they deeply loved on December 14 in CT and I say a prayer for them.  What happened to them is unthinkable.

There's a gesture that is sweeping the country....26 random acts of kindness.  Starting it today with myself.  Will keep you posted!  xoxox, H.

toxic people...

and toxic "things"...trying to rid myself of a few right now.  Mainly politics and politicos.  I've said no to three campaigns.  I HATE politics right now.  It's been my whole life and as I always say, I can count on ONE HAND the number of politicos/politicians I like more after I get to know who they really are...talk about a TOXIC world!  And I'm talking about 20+ years of working in the biz. One person in particular is running for an office right now and won't take NO for an answer and I've spelled out N O for her several times.  The nastiness is too much.

Pray I get the museum position as I do not want to resort to a political gig again...ever.  Our country is heading down the toilet.  Term limits is the only thing that can save us....that and a flat tax.

In one week, we've seen Chris's check decrease by $100 every two weeks for increased ss AND we've seen our water bill DOUBLE because of a "fee" our  city council snuck in when no one was looking.  Can't wait to see what else Obama will hit us with...he is creating a country of entitlements that will NEVER go away.  Our country is being DESTROYED.

Agreed!

Loved hearing about the castle as well. So interesting! The history, the families and of course the money.  I think it is so beautiful. I love that Mary was adamant about saving it. How cold you not.

I could hard wait for it!! I liked it, but felt it was missing something. But I was glad to see the youngest sister back, but not her crazy husband. I need to remember the names of everyone, that is my goal this season. Edith's older boyfriend is annoying to me, she needs to move on. Love Shirley's character, great addition!

my review...

I enjoyed all three hours of Downton.  The first hour that highlighted the real life family, the Carnarvons that have lived at Highclere for generations, was wonderful!  It was very interesting...almost mimicking the storyline of Downton with the need for cash to keep the house in the family.  The present day family has improved their cashflow by allowing Downton to be filmed there and opening their castle to weddings, hunts, etc.  I thought that hour was full of information.  I loved the bit about carrying the dead pheasants by their heads "so they hold their heads high as they are carried off the land."  The traditions are clinging to present day by a thread.  The current butler expressed the need for these traditions or "they will be lost forever."  I couldn't agree more, but that is just me.

ON TO Downton...two hours that flew by like 30 minutes!

Mary has lost weight and Matthew found it.
Shirley as Grandmama was hilarious.
Granny's best line was "excess means success."

Loved the ongoing battle below with O'Brien and the jerk Valet (can't think of his name).  Anna and Bate's relationship is all about finding a way to prove his innocence.  The sister and the Irish husband's relationship/storyline was predictable and kind of dumb.  Edith's story will get more interesting with her upcoming marriage to the old guy with money (guessing they will save Downton).

All in all, a wonderful 120 minutes...60/week just won't be enough!  Chris poured me a glass of champagne and I was set!  It didn't disappoint and I can't wait for more!

xoxo, H.
