last day

Last day of High School for Evan. Last day of driving him to CDH. A lot of last moments in the past month. Yep, I have cried a few times. Mostly just thinking of him starting his new journey, without us. Also, thinking....wow...we did a good job! We got him through High School!! WHOO WHOOOOO!!!! Not one call to the principals office in all 12 years. Not one detention. Not one hangover. Nothing!!! (ok, there was 1, when he kicked a girl in 1st grade, but who's counting that!)

I would say 98 % of the time Evan has been so easy. He is my rock. He keeps me sane in this crazy house. He is sensible and kind. I couldn't be prouder of the man he has become. His hug every morning will be missed. But I am so happy he will be close, I will bug him every once in awhile.

poop...and pee

Regarding the poop bag situation- this is a tough one. I am not a dog owner, so I am usually on the other side of the debate. All the dog owners that don't pick up their poop have ruined it for you...the people who do pick it up.

My biggest problem is the people who live 3 blocks away, who walk in front of our house a couple times a day. The dog gets to our house and pees on our tree on the blvd. The tree has hostas under it. It pisses me off....literally. EVERY DAY!!!! Really, can't you walk somewhere else!! I get they have to pee, and they need a walk, but it does make me a little crazy.

She has obviously has stepped in dog poop, and blamed you for all of the ones that came before you.

I am actually mad at cats right now. Darn stray cat pooped in my yard, saw him do it. When I went to scare him away, he finished the job, and merely walked away. No collar. I think its my neighbors behind me...getting the shovel tonight and putting it on their driveway!

What is WITH people??

dog-poop-bags

SO, this afternoon...

I decide to take George out to the front yard for a quick pee before I hop in the car for an errand.  He had just done #2 a couple hours earlier so I thought I was safe as he pulled me down to the pool where he loves to explore.  Just as we're about to head home, he poops.

I am thinking, "I will get a bag when I get home and stop back on my way out."  We NEVER leave a poop behind.

Just then, the front door of the house across the street opens and out pops the woman who lives there (we don't know eachother but for hello on the street) and she says, "do you need a bag?"  I respond, "I live right there (pointing to our house) and I'm going to get a bag."

She responds, "I really wish you would use my bag."  WTH?!  So, I just ignored her, walked home, got a bag and went back to pick up the doo doo.  What is WITH people??!!  It was NOT in her yard...it was across the street on the pool yard and I was going to get a bag!

Grrrrr....H.

Guiliana...

Emma and I just don't "get" her...a celebrity for doing what?  Kind of like the Kardashians...we just don't get it, but if you love her, that is good...everyone needs some loving!!!  xo, H.

I'm blocked...

A friend has not only defriended me, but has blocked me on Facebook.  She is someone who is dealing with health issues for years and from what I gather is upset that I am not empathetic enough. This is very hurtful because I have reached out to her many times only to be ignored by her.  I am probably a good target for her anger, but defriend and BLOCK??

Onto happier topics...we are so excited for Evan's celebration!  It's always so much fun to get the whole family together!!!  We are counting the days AND excited to help with whatever you need!

You must read The Fault in Our Stars...AMAZING love story!

Mom and Dad arrive next week and the FUN begins!!!!!  xoxo, H.

why don't you like me.....

Hi Emma and Heidi....why don't you like me....I am funny and cute and I have a cute husband and a cute baby....

prom

Evan with Hannah Howard going to Prom. They have known each other since kindergarten. Just friends. She is the sweetest girl. They had a fun time! Evan took after Peter.....James Bond rocks!!!!

2 weeks!

2 weeks from tomorrow is Evan's Graduation party!! Doesn't it seem like yesterday we were at your house for Emmy's!! A whole year has flown by! I think I have been planning his party for a year. Thinking about what I need to paint, fix, clean, make and buy. It's exhausting....but I love it!!!

I think we get our love for a party from Mom and Dad. They loved to have people over and have fun. Their house on Norseman Drive was a place people wanted to hang out. We got the Martha itch at a very young age. I am always wanting to have people over, but Steve doesn't. He thinks our house is too small etc. I tell him I don't care....let's do it!!!

I have pretty much everything ready. 2 weekends left to finish my projects. I will be ready. I can't make my furniture better, or my floors nicer....but I know how to jazz stuff up...just keep people from looking down! :)

love, K

feels like summa!

Today was HOT in the sun.  It felt awesome as I mowed my emerald green grass for the first time...it is so lush and greeeeeeen.

New a/c unit arrives on Friday at 7 a.m....UGH...I hate, and I repeat, hate to spend money on nuts and bolts things!  There are a million other things I would rather spend $3k on...

Emma is HOME and our house has the flurry of activity that only Emma contributes...music, chatter, cooking, spontaneous trips for food or frozen yogurt.  Peter and Chris and I are happy to have her back!  Peter is Emma's best friend and will be for life and she is his.  Makes me smile!

I always love autumn, but this time...right now...is pretty awesome.  Spring in FULL BLOOM and the greenest green ever.

Happy planting and mowing!  xoxo, H.

Evan's birthday....

Evan Schaaf

EVAN IS 19.  That is a crazy statement.  I remember this day exactly 19 years ago.  I was working at ITW (pregnant with Emma because we do everything the same...gettting engaged, getting married and being pregnant all at the same time!) and had been talking to you a lot while you were in the hospital trying to keep that little bun cooking in the oven!  Then, all of a sudden, it was happening!  I hated that I was in Chicago and you all were all the way up in Minneapolis!

I think I saw you guys a couple of weeks later??  I don't remember.  I just remember that you, me and Mom took Evan for his first "outing" which, of course, was shopping and lunch.  He was in his Emmaljunga stroller with his oxygen tank underneath!!!  He was TINY.

Out of the four kids, he was the best, most happy and unfussy baby!  Just ate, pooped, slept and smiled!  Very easy going...just like he is now.

I am so happy he got into Minnesota...just where he wanted to go to college!  He's a man!  And, he is such a good person.  He is going to excel at life.  It's just the beginning with his h.s. graduation coming up.  We can't wait to celebrate!

Happy Birthday Evan Steven!!!!  love, Auntie Heidi
